Riiing! Riiing! “Hello? What?! ….How did somebody get into your account? ….Okay, okay, listen carefully. I’ll help you get it back and make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

Ahem. Sorry about that -- we had to handle something real quick. Lately, the Toontown Team has been hearing from lots of Toons who’ve been having issues with their accounts being accessed by the Cogs. Because of this, we’ve decided to give you a crash course on how to keep your account safe. Keep reading for some Toontastic Toon Tips!

Don’t Share Your Password!

Even if it’s a friendly Toon you trust, you should never share your password with anybody. Even the Toontown Team won’t ask you for your password, so if someone tells you they’re a Staff Member and need to know your password, don’t respond! The best thing you can do is report them in-game or through our Support email, support@toontownrewritten.com.

Use Unique Passwords!

If you use the same password for multiple accounts, you might want to consider changing them to be unique. That way, if one of your accounts falls prey to the Cogs, the rest will stay safe! It’s also a good idea to use complex passwords. After all, which password do you think is harder to guess: “password123” or “Th€T00nCounc!lR0ck$”?

Keep ToonGuard Enabled!

ToonGuard is a special security feature enabled on all accounts when they’re first created. It requires you to enter a special code sent to your email address the first time you log in from a new location. That way, nobody can log into your account unless they have access to your email address and its password. This means you should never share your email address or its password! If you are ever unsure of what email address your Toontown Rewritten account is registered to, or if you need to change that email address, contact our Support team!

Enable Two-Factor Authentication!

This security feature will require you to set up your account on an authentication app such as Authy or Google Authenticator. From then on, it will prompt you to type in the 6-digit code given to you by the app every time you log in to Toontown. That way, even if someone has access to your email, they won’t be able to log into your account without your device. If you ever lose access to your device, or your authentication app stops working, simply send us an email, and we’ll work with you to remove Two-Factor Authentication from your account.

Keep Your Log Files Private!

Log files are little text documents that are created every time you enter Toontown. They contain a ton of super helpful information, but they can also be used to steal accounts if you aren’t careful! If anybody ever contacts you asking for your log files, do not send them anything! Instead, block them! The only time you should ever give out your log files is if a member of the Toontown Team needs to review them, and that will only happen through our Support email.

Here’s one last piece of advice: If someone has logged into your account without your permission, make sure to contact us at support@toontownrewritten.com immediately! Our superb Support Toons will investigate any suspicious activity on your account, restore access back to you, and help you prevent other Toons from gaining access to it in the future.

Congratulations, Toons! Now you know how to keep your accounts safe from the Cogs and other unwanted visitors. Have a Toontastic day! We look forward to seeing you around Toontown.
